چکیده

This paper presents a novel low-power majority function-based 1-bit full adder that uses MOS capacitors (MOSCAP) in its structure. It can work reliably at low supply voltage. In this design, the timeconsuming XOR gates are eliminated. The circuits being studied are optimized for energy efficiency at 0.18-mm CMOS process technology. The adder cell is compared with seven widely used adders based on power consumption, speed, power-delay product (PDP) and area efficiency. Intensive simulation runs on a Cadence environment and HSPICE show that the new adder has more than 11% in power savings over a conventional 28-transistor CMOS adder. In addition, it consumes 30% less power than transmission function adder (TFA) and is 1.11 times faster. & 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Low-Power Adder Design for Nano-Scale CMOS

A fast low-power 1-bit full adder circuit suitable for nano-scale CMOS implementation is presented. Out of the three modules in a common full-adder circuit, we have replaced one with a new design, and optimized another one, all with the goal to reduce the static power consumption. The design has been simulated and evaluated using the 65 nm PTM models.

A Novel Low-Power Low-Voltage CMOS 1-Bit Full Adder Cell with the GDI Technique

The power-delay product is a direct measurement of the energy expanded per operational cycle of an arithmetic circuit. Lowering the supply voltage of the full adder cell to achieve low power-delay product is a sensible approach to improve the power efficiency at sustainable speed of arithmetic circuits composed of such instances at high level design. In this paper, a novel design of a low power...

A New Low Voltage CMOS 1-Bit Full Adder for Low-Power Applications

In this paper, a new low-voltage low-power CMOS 1-bit full adder circuit is proposed. The proposed full adder can provide a full voltage swing at a low supply voltage and offers superior performance in both power and speed than the conventional full adder, the transmission full adder, and the recent low-voltage full adder. Based on the simulation results performed by HSPICE, the new low-voltage...

Ultra-Low Cost Full Adder Cell Using the nonlinear effect in Four-Input Quantum Dot Cellular Automata Majority Gate

In this article, a new approach for the efficient design of quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA) circuits is introduced. The main advantages of the proposed idea are the reduced number of QCA cells as well as increased speed, reduced power dissipation and improved cell area. In many cases, one needs to double the effect of a particular inter median signal. State-of-the-art designs utilize a kind...
